Reach out to others
A problem shared is a problem halved. But a pleasure shared is a pleasure doubled. Communicating with others and being understood and listened to has a powerful unburdening effect. Talking about our wellbeing helps us to make sense of and deal with our feelings. For a conversation to have maximum impact, you should allow plenty of time and aim to give the other person your full attention.
What’s your situation?
- When you're happy or sad about something, who do you turn to? Who listens to you?
- When did you last ask a friend or relative how they're really doing?
- Which issues have been on your mind for a while and take up your energy? Do you talk to someone about it or bottle it up?
- Have you taken the time to have an honest, meaningful conversation with someone today?
