Discover new things

Learning new things or engaging in creative activities is a journey of discovery that will take you out of your day-to-day routine and open up new horizons. By trying out something new, you will develop your skills and strengthen your self-esteem. Creative activities allow you to express and process your feelings and experiences, and relieve tension. We learn not only with our brains but with all of our senses.

What’s your situation?

  • Where can you express yourself creatively?
  • What are you particularly good at? (e.g. cooking, singing, painting, repairing, gardening, carpentry, sewing, designing)
  • When and how often do you make time for creative activities?
  • What would you like to be able to do?
  • What are your talents and skills? Which of these would you like to put to use?
  • Is there something you are able to do that you would like to teach to someone else?

A few ideas:

  • Redesign your balcony or home by having a sort out, decorating, rearranging things or building something new.
  • Build a birdhouse or a new kitchen table.
  • Write your autobiography or make something using photos you have taken.
  • Attend a painting, pottery or sewing workshop.
  • Learning doesn't always mean hitting the books. Explore the wealth of knowledge that can be found in online tutorials. Learning festivals are also an excellent opportunity to discover something new. And you're sure to discover hidden talents!
  • Use online resources to learn Italian or Swedish, or to recognize different kinds of birdsong.
  • Discover what's on at local museums and plan a visit.
  • Check out some course programmes: your school, the Migros Club Schools, the local adult education college, Pro Senectute and other course providers will give you plenty of inspiration.

Let your imagination run wild!
